# `WindowsUpdateMsrcSeverity` enum

The severity rating Microsoft has assigned to a security update. Higher severity values indicate more impactful vulnerabilities and should generally be patched sooner. Non-security updates do not have a severity rating and the field is `null` for those. Reference: [Windows Update Agent API](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/wuapi/)

## Values

| Enum Value | Description |
|---|---|
| `CRITICAL` | The vulnerability addressed can be exploited remotely with little or no user interaction. These updates should be applied as soon as possible. |
| `IMPORTANT` | Exploitation could lead to compromise of user data, system integrity, or availability. Should be applied promptly. |
| `MODERATE` | Impact is meaningful but limited by default configuration, the need for user interaction, or difficulty of exploitation. |
| `LOW` | Impact is minimal. Mitigations are largely already in place by default. |
| `UNKNOWN` | The endpoint reported a severity value that does not match any known rating. |
