# `WindowsUpdateKind` enum

The category of a Windows update. Distinguishes regular operating system and application updates from device driver updates, which are managed and tested separately by hardware vendors. Reference: [Windows Update Agent API](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/wuapi/)

## Values

| Enum Value | Description |
|---|---|
| `SOFTWARE` | A regular software update — for example a cumulative update, security patch, or feature update for Windows or another Microsoft product. |
| `DRIVER` | A device driver update published through Windows Update. |
| `UNKNOWN` | The agent reported a value that does not match any known update kind. |
