# `VirtualMachineType` enum

Hypervisor product an endpoint virtual machine runs on. When the endpoint reports the virtual machine flag, the hypervisor is determined by matching the reported hardware manufacturer (UNKNOWN_VM when no manufacturer matches); on macOS, where no flag is reported, manufacturer matching alone detects a VM.

## Values

| Enum Value | Description |
|---|---|
| `APPLE_VM` | Apple Virtualization framework guest (reports a VirtualMac hardware model). |
| `HYPERV_VM` | Microsoft Hyper-V guest (reports the generic "Virtual Machine" hardware model). |
| `PARALLELS_VM` | Parallels Desktop guest. |
| `QEMU_VM` | QEMU or KVM guest (including UTM). |
| `UNKNOWN_VM` | The endpoint reports it is a virtual machine but the hypervisor is not recognized. |
| `VIRTUALBOX_VM` | Oracle VirtualBox guest. |
| `VMWARE_VM` | VMware guest (Fusion, Workstation, or ESXi). |
