# `TimestampRecordType` enum

Type of authentication timestamp record used by sudo to track credential caching. Controls the scope and duration of cached sudo authentication tokens. ## Values

| Enum Value | Description |
|---|---|
| `TTY` | Timestamp is per tty (terminal device); separate credential cache per terminal session. |
| `PPID` | Timestamp is per parent process ID; separate credential cache per login session. |
| `GLOBAL` | Single global timestamp shared across all sessions for the user. |
| `KERNEL` | Timestamp stored in the kernel credential cache (Linux only). |
