# `ManagePreviewBuilds` enum

GPO policy: "Manage preview builds" under Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update. Controls whether Windows Insider Program (preview) builds are enabled on the device, and which Insider channel is used. Registry: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate:ManagePreviewBuilds (REG_DWORD). CIS Benchmark (L1) recommends value 0 (Disable preview builds) to prevent pre-release OS builds in managed environments. ## Values

| Enum Value | Description |
|---|---|
| `DISABLE` | Disable preview builds (registry value 0). Windows Insider builds are blocked from being installed on the device. CIS L1 recommended value. |
| `ENABLE_DEV_CHANNEL` | Disable preview builds once the next Windows release is public (registry value 1). Preview builds are disabled after the next major Windows release ships publicly. |
| `ENABLE_BETA` | Enable preview builds (registry value 2). Windows Insider preview builds are allowed. The specific channel (Dev, Beta, Release Preview) is selected by the user or by the Insider Channel policy. |
| `ENABLE_PREVIEW` | Preview builds left to user selection (registry value 3, default when not configured). Users can opt in to Windows Insider builds and select their channel through the Settings app. |
