# `DODownloadMode` enum

GPO policy: "Download Mode" under Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Delivery Optimization (MDM: DODownloadMode). Controls which download sources Windows Update clients may use in addition to Windows Update servers for Delivery Optimization peer-to-peer transfers. Registry: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DeliveryOptimization:DODownloadMode (REG_DWORD). Default when unconfigured is LAN (1). Bypass (100) is deprecated in Windows 11. ## Values

| Enum Value | Description |
|---|---|
| `HTTP_ONLY` | HTTP only (registry value 0). Peer-to-peer caching is disabled; all content is downloaded directly from the original HTTP source or a Microsoft Connected Cache server. |
| `LAN` | LAN (registry value 1, default). Peers on the same local network (same public IP) are used in addition to HTTP sources. Standard enterprise peering mode. |
| `GROUP` | Group (registry value 2). Peering occurs within a group defined by AD DS site or domain (Windows 10 1607+), or a custom Group ID. Content is shared across internal subnets within the group, including remote offices. |
| `INTERNET` | Internet (registry value 3). Peers across the public Internet may be used as download sources in addition to local network peers and HTTP sources. |
| `SIMPLE` | Simple (registry value 99). Delivery Optimization cloud services are bypassed entirely (suitable for offline/air-gapped environments). Downloads use HTTP only from the original source or a Connected Cache server without peer discovery. |
| `BYPASS` | Bypass (registry value 100, deprecated in Windows 11). Downloads bypass Delivery Optimization and use BITS instead. Do not configure this mode; use HTTP Only (0) to disable peer-to-peer, or Simple (99) for offline scenarios. |
